Javier Zanetti has admitted that he thought Inter could fight for the title after the 3-1 victory against Juventus earlier this season.

Nerazzurri became the first team to beat Bianconeri at Juventus Stadium, putting an end to their 49 unbeaten games. Since then it has gone up for Juventus and down for Inter who only won five more games in the league.
-A lot of people thought we were good enough for the title after that game, myself included. However, we’ve never been complete since and the season has gone the way it has. Now we are here fighting for Champions League qualification, the captain noted to Tuttosport ahead of Saturday’s meeting.

It’s a big rivalry between the Italian giants and Zanetti knows what is at stake when the two clubs meet.
-It’s the game. It is history. I understood what this match means when I arrived, for everything that has happened on and off the pitch. These are the encounters that every player wants to take part in.

Zanetti also spoke of his respect for Juventus coach Antonio Conte and Mirko Vucinic.
-Conte was a warrior when he played, you saw that he gave everything until the very end in search of victory. He was an honest opponent and this Juventus side has his character. Vucinic has always caused us problems. He can invent things with one touch.
