Another week and it is time for another editorial, I hope you have missed it. The last editorial was a text about how much a fan misses his team during the pre season, but this one will be different. The schedule has been drawn and Inter face an extremely tough start coupled with an extremely tough end to the season. There’s not a lot to be positive about because many people say that Mazzarri’s teams are slow starters, but there is still something charming with being thrown into the action straight away. No alibies, no excuses, just action straight from the beginning and something you will regularly hear is “You still have to face the best teams at some point”. My first trip is scheduled for Inter-Juventus and hopefully Mazzarri has made Inter his and also received a couple of new signings that can raise the quality of the team to a higher level..

On the mercato Inter still has unfinished business, a right wing player and quality in the midfield is much needed. The right wing player that seems to be the closest to join Inter right now is Wallace, an interesting Brazilian talent that is called the right wing Marcelo. What I’ve seen is promising. He has good speed, good strength and good technical abilities, but usually more is needed to make it in the Serie A and most importantly more time is needed. Maybe Inter need another more established player as well. A player who doesn’t seem to be Isla. After months of negotiations the clubs had finally agreed a deal, a medical was planned and Inter’s doctor traveled to Milan to finish it. Only to see Conte cancel the deal at the last second resulting in the transfer not taking place. Time had been wasted in negotiations because Conte understood after a while that Isla is probably just as good, if not better than the Juventus target Zuniga (who we should try to get just to mess with Juve). Bah, to bad, but Conte is to smart to keep Lichtsteiner as the only quality right winger in his side. Looking at the midfield there are many names that are being thrown around, the latest one mentioned is Luiz Gustavo and I hope Inter can put all they have got into getting this guy. A rightful heir to Thiago Motta, a great player from a great team, so now let’s see how the deal will go. For now it seems very hard to get Gustavo, but Moratti(& Thohir?) maybe want to give the fans a gift they deserve.

Going back to the best teams, tomorrow night Inter will face Josè Mourinho’s Chelsea in USA. 02:00 European time (different depending on the time zone, don’t blame me if you miss the game), Inter face one of the best teams in the world with the best coach in the world. More than that we face a team well ahead in their preparations and a team that is well ahead in terms of quality. At the same time it will be a great test for the team even if Chelsea is a lot better. Inter need to raise the intensity levels straight away, understand the weak spots of the team and who can provide a better test than Chelsea, with the potential to make Inter look ridicolous? I welcome this game. May Chelsea prove their strengths and Inter prove their weaknesses so that Walter Mazzari knows what the team needs to work on, so that Moratti makes the investments that are needed and that the players become hungry for revenge. Because Inter need to be on their toes from the very start as in just the third round of Serie A we face another top team in Europe, that’s right, Juventus.

Conte and Juventus have been mentioned enough, but I’d like to conclude with commenting on Conte’s statement about the treble winning Inter. Conte said that that Inter didn’t construct anything. Maybe he missed that the construction began in 2004 (winning the Coppa Italia, but some crucial players arrived before that), with signing good players and getting Mancini in who won that first title. These good players were constructed by Inter, at Inter, with Inter they became the best players in the world during the treble year. The treble was the top of acmountain of titles Inter constructed during those years. If winning 17 titles in 7 years is not constructing, I don’t know what is. Never forget it would’ve been an even greater haul if Inter could have continued spending. Inter might not have constructed with the treble team, but the construction was made earlier and meanwhile another construction is going on, or why don’t we call it a renovation. Inter are renovating the mountain they constructed where the treble was the flag on the top, players have been sold and wages have been cut by 80 million euros in two years. With all due respect to what Juventus are constructing, for one of the best coaches in the world, and a team of the highest european class in Juventus. Please don’t talk about Inter not constructing anything, the construction was done and the flag on the top was what was needed. Our flag was put on the top of the world, at the moment yours is grounded in the Alps.
