Inter’s Brazilian right back Jonathan has started the season incredibly well, and he is definitely one of the players who have benefitted the most from Mazzarri’s new training methods. In an interview in Brazil, the ex-Cruzeiro player thanks his coach for helping him regain self-confidence on the pitch: “Now I have the continuity I was looking for. With Mazzarri I have regained my confidence, I have started the season well and hopefully, I can continue like this”.

Jonathan continues with giving his view on the differences between Brazilian and Italian football: “In Italy the play is much faster, in Brazil the tempo is usually more rhythmic. The game is certainly more tactical here in Italy, but at Inter I have learned and improved a lot”. Jonathan does not deny his dreams of playing for the national team: ”I know that Felipe Scolari watches the Brazilian players in Europe. It will not be easy, seeing as I have two great players like Maicon and Dani Alves competing for the same position. However, I work hard and if I one day get the chance, I am ready for the responsibility”.

Jonathan ends the interview with revealing a little secret: his injury problems disappeared after he started using a special type of sole in his shoes: ”I use them for both practices and matches. I used to keep overstraining my thigh muscles, but with the soles the problem quickly disappeared”.
