Diego Simeone dreams of coaching Inter one day. He has said this several times before and did it again when he was interviewed by Il Giornale:

“It would be an honor. At present it’s only the papers that talk about it.” He went on to explain his plans for the future.

“I see myself staying at Atletico Madrid for quite some time. Some say I can become Colchonero’s Ferguson. That man was football. Bigger than Mourinho? There’s a big age difference. We’ll see what happens with time. Mourinho has charisma. I saw him coach Inter for a full week in Appiano Gentile and I was very impressed by him. The Argentine national team? I’m still young and I will not retire before I’ve turned 65. Additionally, it’s working well with Sabella. If an emergency should arise, I would coach Argentina, without, however, leaving Atletico.”

Simeone then talked about what kind of player he prefers: “Why I always look for rebellious player? Because they give everything on the pitch, including the soul. It’s about character. If Balotelli is a rebel? In his own way, he is. I read that Milan want to sell him. All the better for us when we meet them in the Champions League. Show me a team and I’ll show you what it means to have a fire in your soul.”

Finally, a word about the meeting with Milan in the Champions League: “The Rossoneri represent football history. We will play evenly against them. However, I don’t want to say too much. Allegri? A great coach. I’d like to see someone else handle a team with great players as well as him.”
