“The games are all different and dangerous, and if you don’t manage to score you suffer until the end. Playing with a man more was an advantage,” said Roberto Mancini when talking to Inter Channel after the game.

“In the second half we widened our play a bit with the 4-2-3-2 and we did better. We hoped to find the goal and they were closing themselves well even though they had a player sent off. If I expected a start like that by Celtic? Compared to the first game they were more closed this time but we let their midfielders play the ball too easily, this is why we suffered the first 20 minutes. As a whole I think we deserved the win even though they had the first chance.”

Suffering a bit might be good?

“I don’t know about that, not so much on the bench”, Mancini says with a laugh and then continues. “Not risking anything is impossible but we cause problems for ourselves as well when the ball is in our possession.”

How about Guarin and Icardi?

“They are improving.  Icardi might have had a better game than Guarin even though he didn’t score.”

And now time for Fiorentina.

“It will be difficult, the physical recovery will count a lot. They play well now and deserve to be in the position they are. To win we have to play a great game.”
