With Inter drawing Wolfsburg in the Europa League last 16 we take a look at how they are performing this season.

The German side sit 2nd in the Bundesliga behind Bayern Munich, who they beat 4-1 at the end of January.

Wolfsburg have a total of 47 points from 22 games in the league, scoring 48 and conceding 24 goals in the process.

Their only league title to date came in the 2008/09 season.

In Europa League Group H Dieter Hecking’s men finished 2nd behind Everton. In the last 32 they beat Sporting 2-0 at the Volkswagen Arena before sealing their qualification with a 0-0 draw in Portugal.

Interestingly Inter and Wolfsburg have never met before.

They are not experienced in Europe, I hope Mancini can take advantage of this. Their counter attacks worry me. Juan should be able to deal because he’s fast and anticipates well, but I fear Ranocchia will get destroyed. I hope Vidic plays, his experience can be crucial. Otherwise they make a lot of mistakes defensively, I’m sure Icardi and Shaqiri will cause them a lot of problems. The first match being in Germany is an advantage, we must score there and try not to concede… which is impossible, so we must score more. 😀

Well, this is pretty much the defining match of our season to me.If we win well I guess we’d do so earning the respect of some teams and people in europe, the respect we deserve. Also after this match if we take care of Wolfsburg we pretty much become top contenders to win the EL but ofcourse that’s a few days away. Its important to handle what’s ahead of us as alot couls change soon, who knows we could have alot of momentum going into that match and probably come away with something from Germany. But all optimism aside this is a really tough ask.I just can’t help but think what would happen to our defence.I mean surely they are more lethal than Celtic and they managed to score 3..so yeah.
