Mauro Icardi took time out of the Nerazzurri’s pre-season tour of China to answer fans’ questions on the official Inter Weibo account. The Inter forward spoke about his career in general, the upcoming match against Real, his footballing idols and his current stay in the Far East.

“I like playing as the centre-forward, although the boss has asked me to drop back and get involved in the play more. I’d love to emulate Diego Milito’s career, but we’re different players. I want to do well at Inter, now and in the future – that’s the most important thing to me,” declared Icardi.

There was also a question on impending arrival Stevan Jovetic: “He’s a fantastic player. If he joins he’ll be a great addition.”

Icardi was then asked about his ambitions for the coming season: “I never set myself a goal target. You take stock at the end of the year, just like we did last season. I can still improve every day. My idol’s always been Batistuta. Score against Juventus? I managed to do it for Sampdoria too and I know how much it means to the fans – it’s a special feeling.”

Finally, the Argentine had a parting message for the Chinese fans: “We’ve had a wonderful time here and the fans have given us a very warm welcome. Thank you all!” concluded Icardi.
