Mauro Icardi spoke to Premium Sport and journalist Marco Barzaghi about the Champions League and the coming Napoli game. Once again the Inter captain made it clear he rarely watches football when he is at home, not even the Champions League.

“I don’t watch it, but being able to play in it would be nice. Not just for me, but for the whole team.”

Who is better, Mauro Icardi or Gonazalo Higuain?

“Gonzalo has more experience; he has played many years at the highest levels. I am still young while he has achieved a lot, so I would say him.”

Will Monday be an important evening for NT coach Gerardo Martino?

“I always need to show that I am a national team level, in all games not just Monday where I face Higuain who is a starter for Argentina. I need to earn the call up to the national team through the year.”

Is it still too early to talk about the scudetto?

“You can win the scudetto, you can arrive in the Champions League. This is the goal, but Italian football is difficult you can lose points against the small teams as well but we are on the right track. We are almost at Christmas and leading. This is a big step. We need to think about one game at a time, thinking that in football nothing is impossible.”
