Roberto Mancini to Fazio: “Returning to Inter was not something I had intended to do.”

Roberto Mancini, coach of Inter, was among the guests of Fabio Fazio’s program ‘Che fuori tempo che fa’ on RAI-3. The Inter coach, a former player of  Sampdoria, the team in the coach’s heart, was interviewed together with the other guests, among them the comic trio Aldo, Giovanni and Giacomo, but not before a ‘Happy Birthday’ was sung for his 51st birthday. He started with the prank by Mauro Icardi Felipe Melo and Fredy Guarin at Appiano: “They are the players who will not play anymore…” he laughed.

His Sampdoria played good football, but it is the beautiful game more important than the result? “The result.”

Did Mancini ever believe he would return to Inter? “No, it was not my intention to go back. When you do things well then it is risky, so…”

Mancini also revealed his favorite song, linked to a particular memory: “I went from Jesi to Bologna in 1977, I left all my friends there, so I say: ‘Caro amico ti scrivo’ (‘Dear friend I write to you’ ed.).”
