Atlético Madrid president Enrique Cerezo confirmed earlier today that his club will be signing a “great striker” this summer. There continues to be media speculation linking Inter’s own Mauro Icardi with a switch to Vicente Calderón. However, Gonzalo Higuain and Carlos Bacca seem to be closest on Los Colchoneros‘ radar. Of course, Cerezo’s words will do nothing to calm the fears of Interisti that their captain could be the one to depart for Madrid. Certainly, it would take a huge offer to prize ‘Maurito’ away from Inter given the club’s newly-acquired fresh liquidity via the new Chinese ownership.
