One of Inter‘s directors Nicola Volpi read absent (due to personal reasons) Erick Thohir‘s speech at today’s shareholders meeting, here are the president’s words:

“With the exception of a few good performances the team’s results have been unsatisfactory up to now. We know very well that you can experience highs and lows in football: we played extremely well against Juventus and won, we played well against Roma and lost, and we’ve also had a number of poor performances. We secured an important three points on Wednesday and hopefully we can push on from there now.

We must stick together and help the coach and the team, as shareholders and as a club, by trying to provide our full support so that we can face every challenge with courage, grit and determination. Together we must honour the Nerazzurri colours that we all love – no one more so than you, the club’s shareholders, who are here today.

You should know that as a club we are here to accept our responsibilities, in the good and the bad, and we will continue to take whatever decisions are necessary for the good of Inter.

Despite the difficulties we have encountered, the aims we set ourselves at the start of the season remain unaltered. With its history and tradition, this club deserves to be competing on the highest stage: Inter should be back in the Champions League. That remains our target – it has not changed just because we’ve left a few points by the wayside.

Now we must work even harder to get ourselves back on track and make up the lost ground. And we can only do that if we all work together.”
