Stefano Pioli answered questions in the official press conference after Inter crashed out of the Coppa Italia following a defeat against Lazio.
You conceded a lot of chances, what was the propblem? Is it possible to see Murillo as a fullback on the right hand side against fast players like for example Cuadrado?
“I think that unfortunately we played a match that Lazio wanted us to play. We needed to do better when they scored their first goal, we needed to pay more attention. We lost a lot of challenges, although we did everything to retake control of the match. Murillo? He’s a central defender, who can also be played as a fullback.”
Do you expect a reaction against Juventus?
“I think that we’re good at learning and implementing whatever positive we’ve done from every match. Qualifying to the next round was anobjective, we’re very disappointed that we were knocked out. We will be ready on Sunday.”
Would you do anythign different if you could looking back now?
“I would have made the same choices, I was convinced that the team needed fresh legs. I think that it’s a mistake to blaim this negative result on only one player. The team was very active in the first 20 mnutes, then we struggled for the rest of the 25 minutes in the first hald. Some players that usually play very well made mistakes that they usually don’t do.”
How is Medel’s physical condition?
“He remedied a cut, but he will recover for Sunday.”
