This is how Stefano Pioli analysed the win against Atalanta to Mediaset: “Today was an exceptional game where everything went our way. A game at a high level, but we did well in making everything easy for us, Atalanta is a strong team that doesn’t concede many goals. Inter wants to play every game with the conviction of winning it, of course we are chasing very strong teams that have been at the top of the table for many years – but we have to try to win as many as possible. Great result, but now the only thing that counts is the next game and how we finish at the end of the season. It’s fair to focus on individual performances, but everybody played as a team today with great will and determination. Banega did really well, but it’s hard to find a player that didn’t. Samuel as a staff member? He’s a very intelligent person, serious and well prepared – humble and knows this environment which made it easier for him to adapt. He works with us, knows the team and helps the team to improve. We have been working together for less than five months and there are many situations where we can improve, but when I see this will to work and how we work everything gets easier and the results come. The hand ball of D’Ambrosio? No comments, that is your job, in Italy we have this type of distinction. I talk about the game and how the team performed, you guys talk about this. Gabigol? He could have come on, but we have only three substitutions and I chose other players. Icardi is a phenomenon, today he was great, he is still improving and can give even more.”
