Don Ausilio

Piero Ausilio gave his traditional pre-match interview to Premium Sport speaking on a wide variety of topics starting with the derby.

“Durign the past week I’ve seen a squad that has prepared for the match the way they should prepare, then we’ll see the result on the pitch. The group has approached this week in a serious manner, it’s a positive feeling. European football is a must as it was our objective for this season. Our ambition is to play in the Champions League, but we’re intelligent people that are aware of the changes of coaches and ownership has affected us. We need to remain calm and prepare for a long term project. At a certain point the dream of Champions League football was rewoken thanks to 9 consecutive wins achieved by this group. Pioli arrived at an Inter that were far behind, that were in need of finding their identity. Pioli has done this for a long time and a bad week isn’t what has put our objectives for the season in jeopardy.”

Ausilio was asked to comment on the controversy surrounding Gagliardini’s presence at Juventus Stadium in the past weeks Champions League fixture to which he replied: “What matters is Inter vs Milan, what counts is that Gagliardini is a serious professional and we are happy with him. Certain things are normal in a normal environment, I’ll leave the rest to those who have created an unnecessary crontroversy.”

“We like to speak about facts, we are looking to bring in the people that suit us. We’re moving forward with Pioli’s ideas for next season, but our idea is to prepare the team in silence without proclaiming things. The only things that stand the test of time are facts, not words” Ausilio concluded.
