Don Ausilio

As is now tradition, Inter’s Sporting Director Piero Ausilio spoke with Premium Sport just before kick-off, this time in Florence and the Stadio Artemio Franchi, starting with the renewal of his contract with the Nerazzurri which was made official a few days ago.

“I want to thank the club, the renewal arrives after a period where we have gotten to know each other. My work has been appreciated beyond the results, also because they were awaye of the difficulties. We’ve changed 3 owners in 3 years, now the project stimulates me a lot and I’ll do everything to bring Inter to the top.”

Ausilio was then asked about if Bernardeschi is the prototype of the kind of player Suning have in mind. “All good players in Italy and Europe are profiles that are worthy of Inter, but I don’t want to say anything specific about any particular player. The market can’t be open for any whim or initiative but we will be ready to strengthen the team where it is needed. Pioli? He needs to do what he’s doing, in the last few weeks the results haven’t come our way but if you look at the matches against Crotone and Sampdoria what was needed was more conviction, we need to improve in this aspect. The team relaxed because they lost the ambition to achieve an important objective but we will do everything to reach Europe.”

“We’re all working towards the same direction and the players are aware of this. We don’t need a director to remember this, we’re there to stimulate them because there are many points left to win and many important matches left, if we win these we will be there. The performance in the derby convinced me that the team hasn’t closed things off. We played a great game against Milan, we deserved to win but we drew due to certain episodes, today we have to move forward on this path looking to win.”

In conclusion Ausilio was asked about the rumors surrounding Monaco’s Mbappé and Fabinho: “You have no idea how much they cost. Monaco is an expensive boutique.”
