Mauro Icardi spoke to Sky Sport following the 5-4 defeat to Fiorentina and discussed Inter’s poor form and also about Stefano Pioli’s position at the helm.

“It’s hard to explain, we had a second half that’s not of this team. We can not get two goals in 15 minutes. It’s unexplainable what’s happening in this period. Since Pioli arrived we have done very well but this month we’ve thrown it all away,” he said.

“We can now find a solution to make sense of the work done. When I go to my position I try to help my teammates, knowing how my opponent defends. What I say in the locker room stays between us. I do not speak to everyone in the same way because not everyone likes it.”

The Argentinian then spoke about how disappointing it’s be if Inter missed out on European football.

“For the job done it would be a failure to not reach the Europa League spots, we have five games to try and do it. We have great individuality but we just have to work better together. I’d be disappointed if Inter didn’t get in the Europa League.”

Lastly, he was asked about Pioli’s chances of staying at Inter.

“It’s not up to me to evaluate Pioli’s skills, but what he has done is obvious. Unfortunately when things go badly in football, people blame the coach.”
