In an exclusive interview with FCInterNews, Inter legend Sandro Mazzola did not shy away from expressing bitterness following the sacking of Stefano Pioli as well as other changes occurring at the club. Mazzola expressed hope that the arrival of Walter Sabatini can be the first step in the revival of the club. “I would continue on this road and I think Sabatini is the right person for this project,” Mazzola stated.

The former Inter captain also expressed that he would have waited until the end of the season to sack Pioli and also gave his thoughts on who he thinks should be the next manager at the club. “Pioli is not to blame at all for this bad moment,” said Mazzola. “I would have waited until the end of the season and then let him go.”

“In terms of who I feel should be the next coach, even though both Antonio Conte and Luciano Spaletti would be great for the club, I lean more towards Spalletti because if he were to arrive, his personality would allow for a fresh start to commence.”
