Ahead of the opening fixture of the Serie A season on Sunday at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza in Milano’s San Siro district when Inter host Fiorentina, the Nerazzurri published a stats report on the club’s official homepage regarding this fixture.

  • Inter and Fiorentina have met 158 times in total in the Serie A with the Nerazzurri having won 64, drawn 50 and lost 44. Inter have an excellent home record advantage with 46 wins, 18 draws and 14 losses. In the last four matches between Inter and Fiorentina in Serie A, 23 goals have been scored with an average of 5.8 per match.
  • Inter have not lost a season opener in the Serie A since September 1987  when the Nerazzurri suffered a 2-0 loss at the hands of Pescara. Since then Inter have notched up 11 wins and 3 draws when kicking of the Serie A at home.
  • In the 2016/17 season, Inter attempted 940 crosses, 197 more than any other side in the top five European leagues. Furthermore, Inter were the team who won most corners last year, 308.
  • Inter were also the team who conceded the fewest headed goals from corners last season namely 4.
  • Fiorentina scored 12 headers last campaign, behind only Lazio and Torino.
  • In the last Serie A season, the Borja Valero picked up 10 assists while Vecino had 4, no Fiorentina player did better.
