Sky Sport report on the surprising revelation yesterday that Inter have decided to extend Geoffrey Kondogbia’s contract by 1 season to June 30th 2021 prior to sending him on loan to Valencia.

According to the report, by extending Kondogbia’s contract by 12 months, he will affect the Nerazzurri balance sheet in a lesser negative way despite being sold for €25 million whilst having been signed from Monaco for €31 million plus bonuses. Also, this allows Valencia breathing space to sign the player next season at a lower price which further explains the different evaluations between Kondogbia and Cancelo.
