A debut without any doubts where Spalletti, in front of an excited crowd beat his friend Stefano Pioli and Inter’s former coach by 3-0 after a brace from Icardi and a goal from Ivan Perisic who seems to have fully recovered after this summer’s transfer chaos. After the game, Spalletti arrived for the official post match press conference and had the following to say:

How satisfied are you with tonight’s performance?

“Even after a win like this, there is always something to analyse from my player’s performance. We will go on as usual, despite the win tonight. Fiorentina put us in trouble, not only because we stopped playing, but because they did very well. I think this is normal, we didn’t go wrong a lot, although at some points during the game we were under a lot of pressure. Today we played as a team.”

How do you rate Dalbert, is he a new Emerson?

“Emerson is a great player, while Dalbert has strength and quality. He has to improve his defensive play though, although Nagatomo was great today”.

And the performances of Brozovic and Vecino?

“Marcelo really did his job today, you could find him everywhere. But also he found himself in trouble when Fiorentina stepped up their game. At tha point we weren’t that great, we lost our continuity. But Brozo worked hard but could work a bit on his precision. All-in-all I’m happy with his performance, my main objective is to not let the adaversary score. Miranda and Skriniardid very well, not only Icardi and Perisic who will get the headlines tomorrow. No meaning in going for the fourth goal if you’re risking to be punished, this is referring to Vecino’s and Gagliardini’s performance during the final stage of the game”.

Judging by tonight’s performance, this team needs a coach with a great character…

“The team hasn’t been completely rebuilt, five guys have arrived, all of them in accordance to our ideas. We still have to improve, but I am more than happy with what the guys showed me tonight”.

Are you happy with Nagatomo’s performance?

“He did well together with D’Ambrosio. They covered a lot of space and then took off. If we attacked on the right side the other guy stayed at the half-way line which gave us the equlibrium that we needed”.
