Samir Handanovic is a priority for Inter to renew. His current contract expires at the end of the 2019 season which Inter hope they will be able to extend further to 2021: Gazzetta dello Sport confirms.Therfore we can begin to look at former goalkeepers for the Nerazzurri and compare their numbers to see where he stands within the history books.

“In this championship Samir Handanovic can surpass Toldo and Pagiluca in appearances for the club making him the fourth most regular shot-stopper of all time with Inter – as it reads. Once this is achieved, the Slovenian will begin to reach the highest levels among legends like Julio Cesar (300 appearances), Ivano Bordon (382) and Walter Zenga (473).

So far this year he is yet to be called upon in order to save a penalty, but Samir has a special talent for keeping as many of them as he can out of his net. As the statistics show Handanovic has saved 23 out of the 70 he’s come across, making that a 33% chance success rate. He is currently  number one on the all time list set by Pagiluca in Serie A who saved 24 out of 91 (26.4%)”. This is looking likely to remain the same come the end of his career giving him the title over Pagiluca.
