The chance of seeing Marcelo Brozovic behind Mauro Icardi again as was the case in the game versus Fiorentina on the first day of the season is growing.

At the moment the biggest problem on the pitch for Spalletti is finding the right person to play behind Icardi and dominate the midfield. The opportunity has been given to many different players but none have been convincing enough. Therefore the young Croatian could return to the line up on Sunday against Genoa at the San Siro.

“With Borja Valero needing to play in a deeper role and Joao Mario very poor performance at the Dall’Ara, now’s the turn of Brozovic as the Trequartista – says Gazzetta dello Sport – the Croatian would guarantee the Inter manager balance even when they are not in possession and the ability to enter space going forward as the ball gets played up the field. It’s looking likely that Marcelo will return and hopefully improve the situation after only starting once this year against Fiorentina. Then, the bench in Rome, substituted in against SPAL, benched again in Crotone and was tested on the rigth flank as a sub versus Bologna. Despite this, Brozovic still played many minutes while with Croatia against Kosovo and Turkey so he remains fit and ready.

Brozovic will have to make a very convincing case for himself since that spot is highly competed for during training this week with Eder. The Italian national striker came in for Joao Mario in Bologna and made a good impression on Spalletti, proving once again that he is reliable.”
