Inter coach Luciano Spalletti was interviewed by Premium Sport after Inter’s hardfought 1-0-win against Genoa after a header from Danilo D’Ambrosio found the back of the net from a Joao Mario corner.

“Icardi? Sometimes he has to fall back in order to free himself from his defender, but we have to do better in passing him balls to work with, we can trust him. Anyway, we are the team with most crosses although some of them were not good. But we believe in that way of playing. Our opponents forced us to score from set pieces, but that is one of our strengths and we have a strong team. We have to consider those plays as an important option. We passed the ball around a bit slow and today was not our greatest performance but we played as a team.”

“Genoa have strong players and we conceded in the least way given the way we decided to play. We need more quality and more ingenuity. We have to go further. We have to be good to create the sensation that the team can play against anyone. Are fans are also critical and that could be right but we are doing everything to create the perfect conditions. We need to recreate a mentality, a spirit. We needed a little bit more quality in how we played. In some parts of the match we were a little bit too scholastic. Our fans are also a great source of stimulation for us, we need to have the character to react” Spalletti concluded.
