Renzo Ulivieri, President of the Assoallenatori, spoke to Tuttosport about Luciano Spalletti and Vincenzo Montella, the rival coaches in in the Milan derby.

“the biggest dowry of Spalletti? Pragmatism, his ability to sail always, even in difficult seas, great experience, great knowledge of football, great ability to adapt to the characteristics and qualities of its players and build the team. Roma, especially that of his early years: I challenge anyone not to say that it was not football.”

Ulivieri admitted that you would have to go back to his spell as Fiorentina coach to see Montella’s main quality as a coach.

“The strong sense of aesthetics, go see how his Fiorentina played a few years ago; played beautiful football, and at the same time he was able to make the most of it.”

Speaking on Inter’s start, Ulivieri admitted results are key despite performances not being perfect.

“It is not beautiful, but the results are there and that’s what counts. And I believe that for the Nerazzurri it will be a great season, I do not know where they can get in the meantime if they can win even when they are struggling – a good sign, but Luciano is a guarantee, especially for Inter.”

Milan’s Montella instead is disappointing?

“Vincenzo needs time to put his ideas into practice and realise his projects, and he will have to see if he is given time; unfortunately football today has no patience. It is not easy to have everything and immediately.”

Meanwhile the derby lies: what will be the match?

“It’s always very difficult to make predictions after the break, and figure out a derby like this. I think Inter will build his race on the weaknesses of Milan, including tensions, aiming to take advantage of it. This derby will be decisive for Montella. “
