In an interview with Premium Sport, Inter midfielder Matias Vecino spoke about last night’s derby fixture against Milan which the Nerazzurri won thanks to a hattrick from Mauro Icardi.

“To win a derby like this, you do not get many opportunities like this and to score a goal in the final minutes is something that makes the fans go wild. Of course this win was huge for us, both for the way we did it and how we did it. The crowd was awesome and it kind of helped us in getting the win. During the second half we were a bit to passive and let Milan create some chances. There are a lot of playing situations where I can improve, but we faced AC Milam in one of the most prestigious games ever.”

Vecino was asked if this Inter is good enough to fight for the Scudetto, to which he replied: “There are still a lot of games to be played, we still have our objective to get back in the Champions League, for now we just concentrate on winning and getting higher and higher in the standings. This project is just recently started and we have a lot of teams going for the win, teams that have played together for a long time and who are working really well and we want to compete with them.”

In conclusion Vecino was asked about playing as a trequartista: “I do not know where this cam from, I have always played in the middle of the pitch, in the second half I played slightly closer to the wing.”
