Diego Milito spoke after winning the 13th Mediterranean Award, an award the honours individuals loyalty to the Nerazurri: “Coming to Inter was a dream come true. I arrived when I was thirty and had to do a lot to get the chance to come.”

Milito then spoke on Inter’s Champions League campaign, the year they secured the triplete: “Something was brewing from the beginning, I felt. I remember the Champions League knockout draw, we were in the dressing room and there were two teams to avoid: one was Barcelona and the other was Chelsea. After we knocked Chelsea out in the quarter final we believed we could go all the way.”

Speaking on the final and his goals in it, he added, “I get goosebumps every time I see those goals. The night before the final I was very quiet, I do not know why. We had a great preparation for the game and the team had a great desire to win the Champions League.”
