Inter’s Sporting Director Piero Ausilio spoke with Premium Sport last night before kick-off between Inter and Napoli at the Stadio San Paolo on a wide variety of subjects.

Can we be expecting any reinforcements in January since you have recently been to England?

“I went to England to see two games. Napoli’s and Roma’s matches. Let’s see the performances of the current squad then we will see what happens in January. We want to stay up at the top of the Serie A.”

How is has these three months with Spalletti been?

“He has an incredible story both home and abroad so I am not so surprised with the results. I like his desire to raise the our spirit. It stimulates us to aim high and do very well. The players perceive his charisma that he has transmitted into us.”

When will Cancelo and Dalbert start?

“These are different situations. Cancelo did well before getting injured and this has slowed him down a bit. He needs to train to improve his play and condition. Dalbert is learning about Italian football. Both the attacking and defensive phase of it. He is working well and wants to grow. He will be fine. Let’s not forget about Santon who is also considered by Spalletti and he is still growing.”

What can you tell us about the time when Lorenzo Insigne came on trial with Inter?

“I can’t remember. Young players of that same age outside the region of Milan couldn’t be signed back then. But if he came on trial now I’d consider signing him.”

Did Mauro Icardi have an agreement in place with Napoli two summers ago?

“There was never any agreement. At that moment contract talks with the player had already started. There was never a chance that he would have left Inter, he was fine back then and doesn’t want to go away now either. He wants to stay with us for many years to come. We have given him the captain’s armband and he is very attached to this shirt.”
