Inter Sporting Director Piero Ausilio stopped by Premium Sport for his traditional pre-game interview ahead of kick-off between Inter and Hellas Verona at the Stadio Marc’Antonio Bentegodi.
Is it correct to start with the same starting 11 again?
“It is right and pretty normal, there are 11 players who deserve to start but we do not forget those who come on during the match. There is a great group here who fights next to those who start and are ready to take the chances that are given.”
How is Ramires transfer coming along? Have you have any assurances regarding his knee injury?
“If I say that we have never spoke about this you will keep asking me [laughs]. We are looking to get the maximum out of the players we have, as it should be. The league standings are partial but are the fruits of labour of a group who work very hard during the week, let us talk about this.”
Can Spalletti remain calm regarding the players he has that they wont be sold?
“Yes.”
However it seems that you can sign Ramires on a discount…
“There are no discounts. It is you in the media that make these connections. We are holding this group togethe tightly and to think that we are making certain evaluations with our staff would be premature. We want to take a month and maybe more to evaluate this player.”
At what point will Andrea Ranocchia get a chance?
“You have to give a value to these guys. I hear people say that Inter are too short but I see national players like Brozovic, Eder, Joao Mario on the bench. Other players such as Frog and Santon work hard and are highly regarded. The season is still long and looks hard so there is no need for everyone to play at once, the two of them will be ready just like the others.”
Is Spalletti better at working on the mental side or playing side of things with the player?
“He is proving to be good at everything, he knows how to work on the mental side and the heart too. Many know how to train already but he brings out a different mentality. He is number one.”
Skriniar has adapted quickly…
“We’re talking about a player who has surprised many. He has showed immediately that the good things that were said about him are true.”
Have you thought about competing for the scudetto?
“We must insist on doing what we have done for the past 10 games. We know that if we win tonight it brings more quality . In May we will see what all this work will bring us.”
