Inter coach Luciano Spalletti had the following to say when he shortly after the 2-1 win away against Hellas Verona at the Stadio Marc’Antonio Bentegodi was interviewed by Sky Sport.

Is this Inter better than Mourinho’s Inter?

“We have to compliment the players for bringing this win back home with us. This was a hard game and we managed to win it although there were some tough moments.”

What do Inter need to do in order to find themselves under less pressure?

“We have to try to keep possession of the ball a bit longer. We always try to keep possession of the ball and to avoid turning it over, but sometimes you lose the ball and situations like the one prior to the penalty arises.”

Have you considered making any changes to your formation?

“I didn’t see any reason for this, I put the most suitable formation on the pitch, these players are professionals and they have to accept that sometimes you play less.”

What do you think of Perisic’s performance?

“He makes 80-meters runs in order to re-establish balance to the team, something that is fundamental for us. Candreva also did this today, as did Icardi. This is what we have to do in order to avoid being put under pressure. When it comes to this, the players were great, I want to give the whole team a 10 out of 10 rating after tonight’s performance. I think Icardi was exceptional tonight, moved very well around the pitch. Sometimes he found space, other times he was tied up by a defender or didn’t get the ball from his teammates. But this is what he has to do, Icardi never wins the game by himself it is a result from the team playing as a team. What counts is the performance of the team, not the goals by individuals.”
