Playing against a relegation vandidate, Inter gave the usual Pazza account of themselves against Hellas Verona. It was time to show the rest of the league that Inter can dominate and get a big victory. Inter got the victory alright but not in the manner the coach would have wanted. Luciano Spalletti will surely have more doubts than assurances after this game and may try to change things against Mihajlovic’s men on Sunday night.

Samir Handanovic – 4.5: Spectator in the first half. Absolutely nothing to do. Yes that DD pass was bad but Handa did the worst thing there and let Verona back in.

Danilo D’Ambrosio – 4.5: Not effective upfront. Candreva partnership provides the right balance, but that was amongst the worst backpasses ever. Lost his head after that.

Milan Skriniar – 7: Leader. Kean was treated with disdain. Makes a lot of attackers look like schoolboys, first mistake came when he fouled Lee in 95′. Unbeatable.

Joao Miranda – 6: At his base he is a route one no-nonsense defender so Spalletti’s football makes him look uncomfortable on the ball. Rock solid under pressure.

Yuto Nagatomo – 5: Struggled in the first half, got no support from Perisic, but still should have done better on his positioning, 2nd half focus shifted to other wing.

Roberto Gagliardini – 6.5: Was the heart of the team, kept the ball moving, made the right tackles found the right players almost each time. Stupid booking but will learn.

Matias Vecino – 7: € 24 million is now looking like a steal. His understanding with Borja is pleasing to the eye. Drops deep, attacks the box almost perfectly each time.

Antonio Candreva – 7.5: The derby brought the best Candreva out. Here’s hoping his purple patch continues. That cross for Borja was absolutely world class, impossible to defend against.

Borja Valero – 7: Finally got the goal, but his passing overall was brilliant. That through ball to DD in the first half was great but not as sublime as the goal.

Ivan Perisic – 6: Missing for the 94 of the 95 minutes. Just popped up for the goal and basically got everything else wrong tonight. Didn’t support Nagatomo enough.

Mauro Icardi – 5: Strange case this one, we didn’t create a single decent half chance for him in the box. Considering he’s our best player, that seems unfathomable.

Marcelo Brozovic – 5.5: Provided the spark and steel that was asked from him. Didn’t back away from any 50-50 challenges and even got 2 accurate crosses in.

Joao Cancelo – 5.5: Tried to play the safe game tonight, crucial intervention from that Romulo cross. DD was in shambles in Cancelo’s 10 mins on the pitch.

Eder – N/A: Just brought on to waste time but didn’t have a single chance. Got all his passes right in the last few minutes and ran to close down opponents.

Luciano Spalletti – 5: Luciano, in a bid to find stability, has now started the same lineup from the derby onwards. His players don’t need that sort of sense of security.

Claudio Gavillucci – 4: Got most of his decisions right, but missed a yellow card on Gagliardini in the first half. VAR took too much time. Last minute decision was poor.

Inter – 4.5: Its clear that our weaker players now feel established in the lineup. That was not an acceptable performance but the result was as expected.

Do you agree with Icardi’s rating? Do you agree that Candreva was Inter’s Man of the match?
