Inter club doctor Piero Volpi has spoken to Premium Sport about the injury sustained by Mauro Icardi. The Inter captain finished the Torino game on Sunday with an injury but Volpi explained that it is not a serious injury.

“We breathed a sigh of relief, certainly, but we were fairly sure from the beginning that it wasn’t a major injury.”

He was then asked about the complaints out of Argentina National Team camp about the striker having to miss out on international duty because of the injury & he replied “This is common in circumstances like this. Although it is important that we make it clear that even though it is not a serious injury Mauro would not have been at the disposal of his club this week if we had a game to play. We will evaluate on Tuesday whether we need to give him a specific training routine or wait another day. However I think he should be available to play against Atalanta.”
