During this past international break, Brazilian club Santos met with Inter’s Gabriel Barbosa. Santos had brought up the idea to bring Gabigol back to Brazil to play for the club that sold him to Inter.

The plan would be to bring Gabigol back in 2018 to play for Santos but unfortunately for the hopeful Brazilian side, their former star player declined their offer as he was not prepared to take a salary cut UOL Esporte report. Since this is the case, without making a huge investment it makes things difficult for them to acquire Gabigol, something they just simply can not afford to do.

Santos’ president, Modesto Roma has claimed he will bring top class talent to the club next year as he looks to be re-elected in the upcoming December presidential elections. However, his opposition in the election believe this is nothing more than a false promise in order to ensure he is re-elected.

Gabigol has spent the season on loan with Portuguese club Benfica but has not set the world alight and scored just one goal.
