Inter coach Luciano Spalletti answered questions from Nerazzurri fans from all over the world via Facebook Live ahead of tonight’s Serie A fixture at home against Atalanta at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza in Milano’s San Siro district, with kick-off scheduled for 20.45 CET.

Luciano Spalletti was immediately asked to comment on Italy’s failure to qualify for the FIFA World Cup next summer in Russia making it clear that “we don’t waste energy on explaining what happened, should there be any players that are disturbed by the fact that we did not qualify, this could be a problem for us. To be even clearer, we have a strong squad and we can’t be limited by character flaws. I have found some disappointed players, but the hunt for good results must go beyond any disappointment.”

The Nerazzurri tactician then went on to speak about the match against Atalanta stating that “we have to bring home the three points tonight, we can feel the support from our supporters, something we have felt from the beginning. The players want to take their responsability and they talk about it a lot, they want to make a difference for the fans. It is beautiful to see a packed stadium and this gives us energy. I also have to give credit to the administration of the city council who provide the infrastructure needed in order to be able to play these games with a lot of people in the stands. This means that more people can come and watch the games which helps us.”

The former Roma coach then replied to questions regarding the fact that he has utilized the same starting 11 for the last 5 fixtures, explaining that “up until now we have played with the same team for a long time, but we want to expand the players we use because we have a strong team with very competent players. With a tight fixture list coming up it is also important to involve as many players as possible. It is a pleasure for me to say that the guys have worked really hard, not in order to replace a teammate but to stand by his side and help him. This is the spirit that we have to bring with us.

In conclusion Spalletti was asked to share his thoughts on Gian Piero Gasperini’s Atalanta side declaring that “just like Torino and Sampdoria, we are talking about a really strong team. There is no room for turning up unprepared so we are more than ready for this match.”
