A few minutes after the final whistle of the Inter vs Atalanta fixture, Nerazzurri captain Mauro Icardi spoke with Premium Sport after scoring a brace that gave Inter the three points they needed in order to claim the second spot in the Serie A league table.
“An important victory, and something we just had to do. It is all up to us to get the win, that is it. If I am “sneaky”? I do not know, I took advantage of two headers, but I had some chances in the first half when I should have scored. My knee? I felt some fatigue in it towards the end, now I just have to recuperate during the week in order to be ready for the next game. I am ok with some knee problems as long as I keep on scoring.”
In conclusion Icardi was asked about Inter’s chances of winning the Scudetto to which he replied: “Two years ago we were at the top of the table before Christmas. then we started falling. We just have to continue to deliver and then in May we will see how far that has taken us.”
