After the 2-0 win in the Serie A at home at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza in Milano’s San Siro district against Atalanta, Luciano Spalletti gave an interview to Sky Sport where he shared his thoughts as well as analyzed the fixture.

“The team had a good game, where they played as a team that know their abilities and know where to take the game. In the end we managed to win, which was hard since Atalanta is a very strong team. We just had to wait for the right moment, which we did on set pieces, which incidentally is the first time this season that Atalanta conceded a goal from a set piece. The team did well in pressing Atalanta, in certain moments the team fails to uphold continuity which is something we have to work on.”

Spalletti was then asked if Inter are the main challengers to Napoli for the Scudetto to which he replied “I do not know, we have some areas where we have to improve because the other teams are doing really well and we have to keep up with them. I want a team that puts the opponents under pressure on their half without going low when the oppponents have a “long” team.”

Spalletti was asked about his decision to play Davide Santon ahead of Dalbert saying “you tell me, Santon has always played for Inter, has proven himself, has the physics and two legs. Dalbert has to practice harder starting with tomorrow.”

In conclusion Spalletti was asked if he needs to use more players in his starting line-ups admitting that “we need another 4-5 starting players because the season is long and we need strong, healthy players at the same level as the ones we have now. The reason for playing with the same team for five matches in a row was to build up confidence. When the team is doing fine it is easier to change the team a bit more. Tonight Santon did really well and in the future we will definitely change more.”
