Former Inter, Sampdoria and Bologna goalkeeper Gianluca Pagliuca spoke on his feelings when Bologna, where he now coaches the youth team, come up against Inter and Sampdoria – who Bologna play this weekend.

“I would be lying if I said I was not a Bologna fan, but I assure you, when we play Sampdoria and Inter it is a strange feeling for me. If Roberto Donadoni’s team win I am happy and if Marco Giampaolo’s men win instead I am happy too, I can not really celebrate if Samp score though.”

Pagliuca came through the youth ranks at Bologna before joining Sampdoria where he would spend seven years and be part of one of Sampdoria’s best sides ever. In 1994 he joined Inter for €7 million, a fee that was then a world record fee for a goalkeeper. He won a UEFA cup while on Inter’s books and returned to play for Bologna between 1999-2006 before calling time on his career after a season with Ascoli in 2007.
