Davide Santon has made an impressive return. In the last two matches against Atalanta and Cagliari, he finally got to play full 90 minute games and did well in and out of possession. He deserves the praise from fans and Spalletti, who always stressed his importance.

“The new coach arrived and pointed out Santon as one of the players Ausilio should not sell because he did not want to give up on him and believed that he could revive the former Nerazzurri prospect,” Tuttosport reveal.

Spalletti liked him a lot when watching the games with Lazio and Udinese at the end of last season, just before he was appointed. Two games in which Santon had performed extremely well in and gave Spalletti the feeling that he could become a vital part of his project.

Due to the unfortunate circumstances the 26 year old was out of action for two months at the start of the season due to muscle problems. Spalletti was forced to wait for him on the field but prepared him mentally, inspiring and motivating him for his return despite his difficulties.

“A renewal is now firmly on the table. With plans to speak with his entourage at the beginning of 2018 about extending his contract which expires in June 2019,” Tuttosport further report.

Everyone at the club wants a renewal for Santon due to Inter having the aim of returning to Europe and having strength in depth is crucial.
