Inter’s sporting director Piero Ausilio has met with the agent of Nicolo Barella twice according to reports.

Corriere dello Sport report that they last met last Saturday when Inter played Cagliari in Sardinia and the pair have agreed to keep in contact.

Ausilio is aiming to secure the player ahead of the summer transfer window as there is no chance that Cagliari will allow their top prospect to depart in January and Inter simply cannot afford to complete a big deal due to Financial Fair Play stipulations.

The Nerazzurri are willing to offer between €18 and 20 million for the 20-year-old central midfielder while the Rossoblu are hoping to be able to get €25 million for the Italian youth international.

Inter do not have an easy path toward securing Barella either and are just one of many interested. Last summer Roma attempted to sign him and were unsuccessful but remain interested as are reigning champions Juventus.
