Speaking from the Fondazione Pupi event in Milan tonight, Inter Vice President Javier Zanetti answered questions on Inter and the season so far from Sky Sport.

The big talking point was the game against Juventus this weekend: “This is an important week and a game that because of its history speaks for itself. It doesn’t have to be excessive though. The manager will prepare the team well as always. We go there with enthusiasm and aware of our strengths. We will go there and fancy our chances.”

He was asked if he believed that Inter would reach top spot this season: “Yes, the team has great potential and value. We have a great manager who has managed to mix everything. He is doing a great job, everyone feels important and this is the road path to take. The everyday work is his real strength and this has been seen in the first 15 games this season.”

Zanetti was also quizzed on the two Inter wingers Candreva and Perisic who are having great seasons so far: “They put in a lot mileage on the pitch, both in attack and in defence. That spirit is the secret, everyone helps out and remains compact. Juventus are a strong side, they have dominated for many years now but we can go there and face them on a par right now.”

He was asked if he sees Icardi like Milito: “Mauro is doing amazing things at the moment, but it has been 3 or 4 years that he’s been scoring goals and improving each year. We are happy to have him as our Captain.”

Zanetti was also asked about Inter’s plans for the January transfer window and asked to draw similarities between Luciano Spalletti & Inter’s treble winning manager, Jose Mourinho.

“Ausilio has been very clear regarding the transfer market. We have a strong side and it is difficult to do much in January. We have to continue like this. The manager with the players he has at his disposal. Between them they will work out what to do but as things are we are ok at the moment. I don’t like to draw comparisons: They are both great managers. Mourinho done great things here at Inter, but Spalletti is also a great manger and very prepared. We are happy to have him with us. He has bought his own ideas and values on the pitch and up to now he has been right.”
