Inter defender Milan Skriniar could have left Sampdoria last January in an €8 million move according to club director Antonio Romei.

The Slovakian defender has been impressing fans and pundits alike, with his performances so far this season for Inter. He has been a major factor in Inter’s great start to the season that sees them top of Serie A and currently unbeaten.

“We had a pretty advanced deal in place for Milan,” he explained to Il Secolo XIX.

“One day during last winter I was at Bogliasco watching the Sampdoria youth team training session AND I noticed that his agent, Karol Csonto was also there. He came up to me and said he had an offer too good to refuse from Borussia Monchengladbach in Germany of €8 million. I remember asking him if he was joking. I told him ‘It is Samp who should be buying from Borussia Monchengladbach for €8 million.”
