Inter coach Luciano Spalletti commented tonight’s game against Pordenone to the microphones of RAI: “The players that have not played a lot this season found themselves in trouble tonight becuase Pordenone put a lot of quality in their midfield. we did not manage to find our play and pace. We got confused because we were challenged rather than findding our usual roles on the pitch and from a psychological point of view they just got more and more convinced as the minutes passed. I have experienced what they experienced tonight and I know what happens on a psychological level. But there was a difference on the pitch, in respect to other games, and maybe this was because I did not to what I had to do, we underperformed today, maybe the players did not get my warning about these kind of games. In the second half we played better, also in the extra time, they parked the bus in front of their goal and did a great job defending it. The players taking the penalties? Eder had a muscular problem, Cancelo did not want to take a penalty, the psychological factor is important in these kind of situations. This was a tough round for everyone, during penalties the ball becomes very, very heavy, I compliment the players who decided to take a penalty because they deserve it”.
