Cruzeiro are the latest Brazilian club to spark an interest in Inter’s Gabriel Barbosa according to reports in the South American nation.

O Tempo report that the Belo Horizante based club want to sign ‘Gabigol’ on loan and pay part of his salary. It is understood that Cruziero president Itair Machado has already been in contact with the 21-year-old’s agent to discuss the possibility of the move.

Gabigol is no stranger to Brazilian football having burst out on to the scene at Santos. In 83 games for the club, best known for producing Pele and more recently Neymar, he netted 24 goals which lead to a worldwide scramble to secure his signature. Since joining Inter for €30 million, he has ultimately failed to replicate such form which lead to him being loaned out to Portuguese club Benfica this season. After failing to impress at Benfica thus far, it is looking highly likely his loan will be cut short so he can be sent elsewhere.
