Luciano Spalletti spoke to Inter TV after the defeat to Sassuolo in Reggio Emilia. These were the words of the coach after his team’s 2nd defeat in a row: “It’s a period where we cannot take advantage of what we create and the others score from the little chances they create. We need to work well, maintain lucidity, have the personality to react, and train with seriousness and professionalism. Sassuolo coach Iachini was a clever player, he shielded the defense and maneuvered the team with his passes. To beat teams coached by him, it takes a little more quality because if you let them setup in the way they want, where the ball travels more slowly, this highlights their qualities, which are very physical, and this results in this type of performance where you don’t lose because of a bad performance.”

Do you need to redo part of the work done at Brunico to find certainties again?

“Now we are at a point where something has to be changed, there were certainties and someone was made to feel more important, now if someone can’t handle the pressure at this level, they should be questioned. Some players have dipped in form and some less utilised players might be required to step in.”

Where will you intervene now?

“We will focus on work to bring speed, freshness of thought, we just have to seriously analyze what happened, there will be some disgruntled players but we know where we have to go and we know how to do our work.”

How is D’Ambrosio?

“His condition has to be examined, his foot got stuck in the ground, now he will be medically evaluated.”
