Gabriel Barbosa will not be returning to Benfica training after the festive period Portuguese outlet A Bola detail.

The on-loan Inter forward has been in his native Brazil to celebrate Christmas and will remain in order to sort out his future which will more than likely be back in the Brazilian top flight after Benfica given him permission to seek out a move after his spell in Portugal went anything but as expected.

There are a whole host of clubs interested in helping Gabigol, as he is otherwise known, to get his career back on track after two dreadful seasons in Europe where chances to impress have been hugely limited. Flamengo, Cruzeiro, Santos and Sao Paulo are all interested in the player who signed for Inter in a €30 million deal back in 2016. The move to any of the clubs mentioned largely depends on the 21-year-old’s willingness to reduce his €3 million annual salary for the duration of what is expected to be a loan move until the end of the season.
