Interviewed by Radio Bruno Toscana, former Inter CEO Ernesto Paolillo discussed the recent negative results by Inter in anticipation of the Fiorentina clash and stated that: “these negative results that Inter are going through are common, it’s inevitable that they occur especially after the strong start that they had. Inter is not Scudetto ready, they are indeed constructing a positive cycle to get there. However, Inter is also not the team that lost three games in a row because there were certain moments in those games that could have gone their way and changed the result. The team though is certainly worthy of third position.”
Ernesto Paolillo also added on the positive impact on the summer acquisitions of Borja Valero and Matias Vecino: “I expected them to do well because they’re tremendously talented but Inter is lacking something in the fullback position, though what they have now is getting them by, Davide Santon made a few errors against Udinese that he won’t repeat.”
Paolillo was asked about current Fiorentina coach Stefano Pioli saying: “He’s a great coach, hope he doesn’t show it against Inter though, he’s doing fantastic now especially with all the changes made by Fiorentina and hope he has time to show his worth. Last year at Inter was not his fault.”
Then he was asked about the Della Valle family, who own Fiorentina saying: “I respect them greatly. Various projects unfortunately haven’t gone into fruition because of the city, this unfortunately hurts them greatly. After many years cycles close, similar to what occurred with Massimo Moratti. At times even a change of ownership can bring back the motivation of a club.”
In conclusion Paolillo spoke about Fiorentina’s Federico Chiesa saying: “he’s a great young talent and perhaps Inter isn’t interested [laughs].”
