Inter captain Mauro Icardi stopped by the club’s official TV channel, Inter TV, to share his thoughts on the draw away against Fiorentina where he scored his 99th goal in the Serie A but where still held to a draw after Giovanni Simeone equalized late in the match.

Icardi was asked about his great goal tally in the Serie A this season stating that: “it is a nice average when you score 18 goals in 20 matches but I don’t like scoring goals that don’t end up being useful to the team. Tonight, Cancelo made a great cross and I took my time with the defender and I was lucky after the goalkeeper saved my header.

“We played a very poor game and were lucky to go ahead. We have to fight until the end with character in order to bring home the results. In the end we were lacking something and they equalized. The coach asked us to improve in helping the squad and I always try to do it” Icardi continued.

In conclusion Icardi was asked about what he was speaking to Spalletti about on the sidelines: “There were some doubts regarding which changes to make as we had many players who were tired and injured and so I spoke with the coach. We have won many matched but in this past month we have been lacking the right spirit and a little bit the will to do well and fight. You can feel the lack of these things during the training sessions too and we must absolutely recover these things. We need to work. This belated break has hurt us a little bit but we will look to get back to our best given that we play Roma immediately after the break.”
