Inter midfielder Borja Valero spoke to Premium Sport after Inter’s 1-1 draw away to Fiorentina which saw the Spaniard return to his former club for the first time since making the move to the Nerazzurri in the summer.

Valero began by expressing regret and remorse for not being able to win: “it’s a shame that we couldn’t close the game off at the end, we must do more. We were in trouble at the end but we managed to get a draw in the end. We lack a bit of agility in our play, we need to move the ball quicker and keep the ball better because we gave the ball away too often. Apart from this at least we can take a point away from the game.”

He was asked if emotions were running high for his first game against Fiorentina since leaving for Inter last summer: “very much so. I spent many years here and had some great moments. It is always emotional to see so many people who love you. I would like to thank all the people who have remained close to me and my friends who wore a mask of my face in the stands. I always gave everything for the Viola shirt and they thanked me, mirroring the affection I have for this city.”
