During an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, former Inter goalkeeper Júlio César has praised each of Inter’s three main transfer targets: Lisandro López, Ramires and Rafinha. Here is what he had to say:

“Ramires? He is an animal, but in a good way. It’s a while since I’ve seen him play, but I remember that he was always there and made himself available all over the pitch. He never got tired. Now perhaps he will run slightly less, but he will be an even better player because of the experience he has gained. Did he go to China too early? Maybe yes, but we are talking retrospectively. No one knows what was in his head at the time. If he does come back to Europe, it is because he still has a lot to offer and can help Inter.

“Lisandro López? He is the opposite of Ramires in many ways. Off the field, he will certainly make himself heard. He is a great guy in the locker room. He likes to laugh and knows how to get along with everyone. He and I joked a lot. I came to training, didn’t say hello and pretended to be angry. Look, I’m not Zanetti, Cambiasso or Milito. Now I’m in your dressing room and you have to say hello. He will now come to La Pinetina, and I’m sure he will fit in quickly. I’ll call him to wish him good luck.

“Rafinha? We’ve never played together, so I don’t know him so well. He is very talented though, and I’m sure he can do well at Inter. Inter is doing well, with a new team and a new coach. They must consider themselves very lucky to have Spalletti on the bench. I remember his Roma, they were always a very competitive side. Qualifying for the Champions League will act as a springboard for further success.”
