Former Inter treble winning defender Marco Materazzi was interviewed by TMW Radio ahead of the upcoming fixture between Inter and Roma this sunday at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza in Milano’s San Siro district with kick-off scheduled for 20.45 CET.
Materazzi began by highlighting that “it is an important match that can decide the qualification for the Champions League, which is the goal of both teams. With a Roma and Inter able to resume the journey after a short break in the past weeks.”
The former Nerazzurri defender was asked who is more difficult to mark out of Icardi and Dzeko replying that: “If you are not focused, both can score goals.”
Materazzi was asked to share his thoughts on the signing of Lisandro Lopez replying that: “He’s a player who comes from Benfica, so he is a quality player, done and finished. He is not a discovery. It is a kind of safe signing that I am convinced can give a hand to the team. Skriniar can grow and improve so much, Spalletti and his staff know how to make him grow in the best possible way. He can become one of the best two-three defenders in Italy. Would I trust Inter this years? I’m always confident. Champions League is an achievable goal.”
The 2006 FIFA World Cup winner was asked about the future of the Italian national team replying that: “The FIGC is without tops and there are no programs but I can say that Tommasi has values and is a decent person, Sibilia, in my opinion also seems to be a good person. The new manager? For the coming months there will be Di Biagio , who I know for having him as a partner at Inter, is a person taken from his role, knows all about the world, he deserves this chance.”
