Gazzetta dello Sport have pondered whether or not Inter could be behind Simone Verdi rejecting a move to Napoli this transfer window.

Verdi has been perhaps convinced to reject the advances from the Partenopei due to the interest from the Nerazzurri, despite the chances of a move coming to fruition this window being slim.

The 25-year-old attacker has been crucial for Bologna this season, scoring six and assisting five over the course of 21 games in all competitions. Despite the wealth of interest from the big clubs in Italy, Verdi continues to display loyalty to the Rossoblu having admitting that he hopes to stay with them at least until the summer on more than one occasion.

Napoli no longer appear interested following Verdi’s snub and have already turned their attentions elsewhere to the likes of Gerard Deulofeu, who has also attracted interest from Inter. They have also identified Paris St. Germain’s Lucas Moura and Sassuolo’s Matteo Politano as potential additions to their side.
